Family materials, 1866-1917.

The collection consists of two journals dept by James K. Stinson, one Stinson famly photograph, clippings, account statements, receipts, land surveys, and legal agreements. The two journals comprise the bulk of the collection and are Stinson's descriptions of his daily activites for thirty-three years. They provide insight into farm life in Fulton County, Indiana during the middle to late nineteenth century.

James Kerr Stinson was born in Ross County, Ohio on 12 November 1825 to Archibald Stinson and Silence McCoy. Stinson married Martha Jane Myers in 1849 and remained in Ohio until 1868 when they moved to Rochester, Indiana in Fulton County. Stinson worked as a farmer, county surveyor, and appears to have been involved in a sawmill and lumber business with Felix Renick until 1872. Stinson died in 1899.
